Let me present to you a piece of American History!!!

Oldsmobile has been gone since 2004 after General Motors restructured and decided it no longer needed one of its most iconic brands dating back to 1901, Olds Motor Works. Oldsmobile also beat the competition to market with its bleeding edge tech in the form of an OHV V-8 motor known as the Rocket V-8. Yes, the “Rocket” was a marketing departments dream come true!!!

The Rocket V8 became a legend in its time and laid the initial ground work for the upcoming muscle car era. The original muscle car time period would have never existed without the introduction of the OHV V8.

As time passed and manufacturers were ramping up production for the muscle car era, Oldsmobile decided to raise the bar. In 1970 the 442 was offered with a 455 cubic inch engine known as the W-30 upgrade. This 1970 442 Oldsmobile, affectionately known as “Emma Gene” (named after the original owner) is equipped with that very motor. The 455 V8 is rated at 365 HP and 500 ft pounds of torque with its 10.5/1 compression ratio. It was rumored that Oldsmobile understated the engine specs in hopes to avoid a congressional safety hearing and explain why anyone needed that much horse power – rocket power!

This 1970 442 is in special order color – Rally Red and includes additional options: Fiberglass Ram Air Hood with dual hood pin locks, Rear Deck Lid Wing Spoiler, Hurst Dual Gate Automatic Shifter mounted on a 400 Turbo Hydramatic Transmission, Positive Tracktion Rear End, Bugle Chrome Dual Exhaust,  4 Spoke Steering Wheel, Super Stock II Wheels with raised white letters, AC, PS, PB, Tilt, AM/FM Radio, and Map Lights. This vehicle is on display at Swopes Cars of Yesteryear Museum and can be viewed during normal business hours. Investment Priced at only $55,000.00 plus tax and fees.
